An Amazing Day

Today I met J. Cole. J. Cole Is Jay-Z's first artist to sign with his new recording label Roc Nation. J. Cole was giving out Cd's and autographs today in the Farrison Newton Communication building. I was the first to receive his Cd. I was very excited to learn that he was actually going to be at NCCU. This has been the highlight of my week. Although tomorrow we play Duke University for the first time in football. If we win I may just have a new highlight for this week. Question should I listen to the autographed Cd? Or Frame it?

Our First Home Football Game

Our first home football game is this Saturday at 1:30. I'm so excited; the level of my anticipation is extremely high. Im very excited to see the band perform during half time. I know that the band's performace will be amazing. For the first time during a football game I will be able to show my immense Eagle Pride. Not only that….I even get a grade for attending in Dimensions of Learning class. If that isn't a large enough incentive for attending there will also be a free freshman tailgate. What is better than free food plus fun plus an opportunity to meet new people? Math isn't my subject but fun + food + easy grade = a great day. I am very eager to attend. Saturday could not come fast enough. Have you ever been just as excited as I am to show your school pride?

The 1040

Every Tuesday and Thursday between 10:40 Am. and 11:30 AM, no student has classes. During this period NCCU always host several events in front of the Student Union. I try to attend to meet new people. Today I was unable to attend because I had to meet with my professor in the Farrison Newton Communications building. Interestingly enough as I entered the building expecting nothing out of the ordinary, I was immediately rushed to a table, that was hosted by the jazz radio station on campus. When I arrived to their table I was given cookies, internship opportunities, and information about the radio station. Before today I didn't know that NCCU had a radio station on campus but now I know to "tune in." The point is during the 1040 there are always multiple events going on around campus. I didn't even think I would even be able to attend one but little did I know I would still some how be a part of the 1040. The 1040 really brings students together, and is a way to meet new students or to simply take a nap between classes.

A common Bond

I've become much more social while I've been at North Carolina Central University. At the time I simply figured that I had "grown out" of my own shyness an anxiety towards strangers. At a second thought I realized that there were no strangers around campus to be shy around. Although everyone on campus comes from a different background or different cultures, we shared a common bond.... we are all Eagles! That common bond makes us a family of some sort. One really gets the feeling that we would all look out for each other in every ones time of need. I am very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful family. I love all my fellow Eagles for welcoming me to there family, but not just current students even the alumni. Most of my instructors are alumni and they understand my struggles as they have already been down the road that I'm just beginning. Not only that, during the summer before I arrived as a freshman at NCCU there were many alumni hosted cookouts and different social gatherings upon our arrival at NCCU. Because the alumni care so much it proves just how strong the NCCU Alumni Association really is. I know that once I've completed my four years at NCCU, I can count on the networking skills of the alumni of NCCU to help me secure a career. Again I say I am not only proud to be part of this wonderful family but blessed.
