An Introduction And My First Week Experience

My name is Ryan M. Stowe, and I am from Salisbury, North Carolina. My major is political science. Going into college for the first time is generally an experience where people are either very nervously anxious, or highly anticipating the transition. I was anticipating my arrival at NCCU. At one point I was a little nervous but after the summer orientation, provided by the Office of Orientation and First Year Experience, I no longer had any worries about the transition from high school to college. My first week at NCCU was fun, filled with different workshops that were designed to ensure my success. During that first week there were no classes this opportunity was designed for freshman to socialize with each other and make new friends. On that same weekend NCCU hosted two different parties for incoming freshman. This was yet another time to allow freshmen to mingle. I also used this week that was free of classes to handle other important business such as getting my Eagle Card, visiting the Financial Aid Office, and speaking with my academic advisor. All of these people in their respective offices all showed great hospitality to me and other students with the same issues. Overall my first week was great it was not too demanding; it was a great way to transition to a new environment.
